Lao Airlines Flight 301 was a domestic flight operated by Lao Airlines, which connected the capital city of Vientiane to Pakse, a tourist hub renowned for its proximity to the Bolaven Plateau and ancient temples. The aircraft involved in the accident was an ATR 72-500, a twin-engine turboprop commonly used for regional flights. On October 16, 2013, as the plane was making its final approach to Pakse International Airport, it encountered severe weather conditions. The flight lost altitude and ultimately crashed into the Mekong River, a few kilometers from the airport, impacting the water and resulting in a devastating tragedy.During the ill-fated flight, there were a total of 49 people on board, including 44 passengers and 5 crew members.
