Spantax Flight 275 was a scheduled passenger service operating out of Tenerife North–Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, chartered by an airline from Spain. On December 3, 1972, as the aircraft, a Douglas DC-8, initiated its takeoff, it was unable to achieve sufficient altitude due to severe mechanical failure shortly after liftoff. Witnesses reported seeing smoke trailing from the plane as it struggled to gain altitude. Despite the pilots’ attempts to rectify the situation, the aircraft lost control, crashed down, and was completely destroyed upon impact, killing all 155 individuals on board, which included passengers and crew members.Rescue operations commenced almost immediately following the incident, but unfortunately, there were no survivors.
