Apollo 16 was the fifth crewed mission to land on the Moon, launched by NASA in April 1972. Astronauts John Young, the mission commander, and Charles Duke, the lunar module pilot, embarked on a journey that focused on the exploration of the Moon’s surface in the Descartes Highlands.
