Agni Air Flight CHT was a scheduled passenger flight operated by Agni Air that tragically crashed on approach to Lukla Airport in Nepal, known as one of the world's most dangerous airports due to its challenging weather conditions and short runway. The flight was en route from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, a popular gateway for trekkers heading to the Everest Base Camp. Onboard were five crew members and ten passengers, including trekkers from various countries. The aircraft had been cleared for landing but encountered difficulties and initiated a go-around after the first attempt failed. Unfortunately, the aircraft could not regain altitude and impacted the hilly terrain near the airport, resulting in the loss of all onboard. The incident raised concerns about aviation safety in Nepal, particularly regarding the training of pilots operating in such challenging conditions. The lack of necessary equipment and standard operating procedures contributed to the difficulties faced during the landing attempt.
