Delta Air Lines Flight 191 was operating a regularly scheduled flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. On approach to landing, the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar encountered severe weather conditions, including a sudden wind shear caused by a microburst during a thunderstorm. The pilots attempted to counteract the loss of lift but were unable to regain control of the aircraft. At approximately 8:37 PM, the plane descended rapidly and crashed just short of the runway, striking a nearby highway and impacting several vehicles that were stopped at a traffic light.Emergency response teams quickly arrived on the scene, but due to the severity of the crash and the conditions, the aftermath was devastating.
