Rico Linhas Aéreas Flight 4823 was a domestic flight traveling between cities in the Brazilian state of Acre. As the aircraft approached Rio Branco International Airport, the crew encountered severe weather conditions characterized by low cloud cover and heavy rainfall, which drastically limited visibility. Eyewitness accounts described the aircraft as having difficulty aligning for a proper landing. Despite the crew's efforts to navigate through the challenging weather, the aircraft crashed just short of the runway.Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene of the accident, where they found wreckage scattered across the area. Unfortunately, despite their quick response, 23 of the 31 people aboard lost their lives in the accident. The majority of the casualties were passengers, including several children, and only a handful of survivors managed to escape the wreckage. The crash raised urgent concerns about flight safety, particularly regarding how airlines prepare and train pilots for adverse weather conditions.In the aftermath, the Brazilian government initiated an investigation into the incident, focusing on the operational procedures of Rico Linhas Aéreas, as well as the adequacy of air traffic control support during challenging weather.
