Served as the first President of Iran from February 1980 until June 1981 after the Iranian Revolution. Played a crucial role in the establishment of the Islamic Republic and was active in opposing the Pahlavi monarchy. Sought to implement economic and political reforms in the newly formed government. Faced conflict with other political factions, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Eventually removed from office amid political strife and accusations of being too aligned with leftist groups. Subsequently went into exile and lived in France, engaging in political commentary and criticism of the Iranian government.
