An ice hockey player, he played as a defenseman in the NHL, starting his career with the Edmonton Oilers after being drafted fourth overall in 2011. Prior to joining the NHL, he played for Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League. After his time with the Oilers, he was traded to the New Jersey Devils.
