A Bulgarian cosmonaut participated in two spaceflights as part of the Soviet space program. The first mission was Soyuz 33 in 1979, which included a challenging docking attempt with the space station Salyut 7. Following that, flew on Soyuz 37 in 1981, where participated in scientific research during a long-term stay aboard Salyut 7. Aleksandrov's training began at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. Significant experiences include being part of the first Bulgarian team to train for space travel, contributing to international space exploration efforts.
