Became Emperor of the Western Roman Empire in 467. Anthemius was a high-ranking member of the Roman aristocracy, noted for his connections to the eastern half of the empire. Ruled during a turbulent period marked by invasions and civil unrest. Established a strong relationship with Eastern Roman officials, which aimed to stabilize the empire. His reign was characterized by attempts to consolidate power and defend against external threats, including the Visigoths. His rule ended when he was deposed and killed by Orestes, the father of the future emperor, Romulus Augustulus.
