Bertalan Farkas was a Hungarian general and cosmonaut. In 1980, completed a spaceflight aboard Soyuz 36, making history as the first Hungarian in space. This mission lasted a total of eight days and contributed to various scientific research projects during its execution. Farkas served in the Hungarian Air Force and achieved the rank of Brigadier General, where responsibilities included piloting several types of aircraft and overseeing aviation operations.
