His major work, 'Geometria', introduced a method to calculate volumes of solids using infinitesimals, laying groundwork for calculus. He served as a professor at the University of Bologna, where he influenced the study of mathematics. His innovative approach provided tools for later mathematicians, including tools for understanding areas and volumes. The principle named after him, Cavalieri's Principle, states that two regions with the same height and equal cross-sectional areas at all heights have the same volume. This principle continues to be utilized in various mathematical applications.
