Born in Venezuela, a professional baseball pitcher began a career in Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2001. Played for the Chicago Cubs for most of his career, achieving considerable success on the mound. Also represented Venezuela in international competitions, contributing to the national team's efforts in the World Baseball Classic.
