Played professional baseball primarily as a pitcher in Japan. Debuted in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in 2007 with the Seibu Lions. Helped the Lions secure the 2008 Japan Series title. Transitioned to Major League Baseball (MLB), joining the San Diego Padres in 2017. Participated in the 2019 World Baseball Softball Confederation Premier12 tournament, representing Japan.
