Served as the 19th Prime Minister of Canada from June 1993 to November 1993. First woman to hold the position in the country. Elected as a Member of Parliament in 1988 and served in various cabinet positions, including Minister of National Defence and Minister of Justice. After a short term as Prime Minister, led the Progressive Conservative Party during the 1993 federal election, which resulted in a significant loss for the party.
