Ludmila of Bohemia, a significant figure in the early Christian history of the Czech lands, lived during the 9th and 10th centuries. She played a pivotal role in the Christianization of Bohemia, being a grandmother of Wenceslaus I, who later became a saint and is the patron saint of the Czech Republic. After her husband, a pagan, died, she became a devoted Christian. Her efforts to raise her grandchildren in the Christian faith brought her into conflict with a rival faction within the family.
