UNFICYP Establishes the Green Line in Cyprus

The United Nations Security Council authorized the establishment of the Green Line, a buffer zone separating the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities in Cyprus. This decision aimed to prevent further violence following the Turkish invasion of the island in July 1974, which was prompted by a coup that aimed to unite Cyprus with Greece.
