Operation Anaconda Begins in Eastern Afghanistan
Operation Anaconda marked a significant U.S. military operation targeting Al-Qaeda and Taliban forces in the eastern part of Afghanistan. Launched on March 1, 2002, this large-scale operation was aimed at eliminating remaining terrorist strongholds in the Shah-i-Kot Valley. Coordinated by U.S. and coalition forces, the operation was conducted in rugged mountainous terrain and involved extensive ground and air support to enhance the effectiveness of the offensive.
