Henry Morton Stanley embarked on a challenging expedition to locate the Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone in Africa, who had been out of contact with the outside world for several years. Stanley's journey aimed to reunite with Livingstone, whose explorations in the continent had garnered much public interest, particularly due to concerns over his well-being.
