First Boeing 737 Crash at Chicago Midway Airport
United Airlines Flight 553, operating a Boeing 737, crashed while attempting to land at Chicago Midway International Airport. After aborting its landing, the aircraft lost control and crashed into a residential area, resulting in 45 fatalities, including all 4 on board and 41 individuals on the ground.
