It lasted from June 23 to June 26, 1848, culminating in a violent confrontation with the government. The uprising aimed to preserve the National Workshops, which provided employment for the unemployed amidst economic turmoil. After several days of intense fighting, government forces, bolstered by loyal troops, were able to decisively crush the revolt, leading to significant casualties among the insurgents and the imposition of stricter government controls.
