Dissolution of the People's Republic of Korea

On February 8, 1946, the People’s Republic of Korea was officially dissolved in the northern region of Korea. It was replaced by the Provisional People’s Committee of North Korea, which was controlled by the communist party. This transition followed the end of Japanese rule in Korea after World War II and the subsequent division of the Korean Peninsula into Soviet and American zones of occupation.
