This retaliation stemmed from a campaign by Dalit laborers advocating for higher wages, a demand that threatened the established social order. The violent act highlighted the severe discrimination and tensions between caste groups in India, especially in rural areas. The attackers sought to punish the laborers for challenging the status quo, leading to a tragic loss of life.
