Tokugawa Ieyasu led his forces against the western army led by Ishida Mitsunari. Despite being outnumbered, Ieyasu's strategic brilliance and timely reinforcements turned the tide in his favor, leading to a significant victory that ultimately established him as the first shōgun of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This battle effectively laid the foundation for over 250 years of relative peace and stability in Japan known as the Edo Period.
