Deposition and Execution of Emperor Majorian

Majorian, the Roman Emperor, was arrested and executed by Ricimer, the magister militum, near the river Iria in north-west Italy. This drastic action followed Majorian's failure to effectively address the pressing challenges of the Western Roman Empire, as well as his deteriorating relationship with Ricimer, who sought to consolidate power.
