Theophilus

Served as Patriarch of Alexandria from 385 until death in 412. Played a significant role in the Christianization of Alexandria, particularly against pagan practices. Actively involved in theological debates, defending the faith against various heresies, and promoting the Nicene Creed. Presided over the controversial expulsion of Jews from Alexandria and was instrumental in the destruction of the Serapeum, a major center of pagan worship, which symbolized the decline of paganism in the city. His tenure was marked by vigorous opposition to the old religious traditions of the region and efforts to consolidate Christian authority.
