Louis V Ascends as Last Carolingian King
Following the death of King Lothaire II, his son Louis V was declared king of West Francia. Louis, a minor at the time, faced difficulties in uniting the nobility and maintaining control over his father's realms. Louis V's reign would prove to be brief, lasting only till his death in 987, which further complicated the Carolingian legacy in France.
